Terms of use
The rules for using CeKiN
These are the rules for using CeKiN, kept short so they actually get read. By using CeKiN, you use it under these terms.
In force since 27 October 2026.
What CeKiN is — and what it is not
- CeKiN measures the quality of your internet connection at that moment: download and upload speed, latency, jitter and packet loss, and sums it up in one score.
- The result is indicative. For now CeKiN measures against one server, and that server's own connection is shared with other services and has not been measured. So the figures you see can be lower than what your internet can really do.
- A CeKiN result is not legal proof of what your internet provider delivers. Do not use it as the only basis for a claim, for cancelling a subscription, or for any other important decision.
- The figures per area on the Map are averages of the tests of people who chose to share their location. They describe the tests received, not the whole area.
What is free and what is paid
- Testing, seeing results, the history of the last 7 days and the area map are free. No account is needed to test.
- Some features will be paid later, for example full history and history export. Nothing can be paid for today: the buttons are visible but read “Not available yet”.
- Before anything becomes paid, its price will be stated clearly where the feature is. CeKiN will never charge you for something you did not choose yourself.
Points and levels
- Points and levels are rewards inside CeKiN. Points have no cash value, cannot be turned into money, and cannot be transferred to someone else.
- The rules for points — how many for what, the daily limits, and what they can be exchanged for — may change. Points gained by cheating can be cancelled.
- Without an account, points are kept only in the browser you use and can be lost if the browser's data is cleared.
Using CeKiN fairly
CeKiN's server is shared, so please use it reasonably. Not allowed:
- running tests automatically or in rapid succession with a program, or trying to get around the wait between tests and the limit on tests running at once;
- sending fake results or fabricated data, including a fake location;
- trying to obtain other people's data, or disturbing the server or other users.
If that happens, the tests concerned can be rejected or left out of the figures, and the account used can be stopped. Tests whose report is impossible are already rejected automatically by the server.
M-Lab comparison tests
A comparison test is run by M-Lab, not by CeKiN, and follows M-Lab's own rules. M-Lab publishes the result publicly and forever, including your IP address; that cannot be withdrawn. A comparison test earns no points.
No service guarantee
- CeKiN is run by one person, Johan Giri Wijaya, personally. SETARA is not a legal entity yet. CeKiN is still a preview.
- CeKiN is therefore provided as it is. There is no guarantee that the site can always be opened, that its results are always right, or that a feature will stay.
- Your history and points can be lost if the server fails. If your data matters to you, keep your own copy with “Download my data” on the Account page.
- CeKiN may change, pause or be discontinued. If CeKiN is discontinued for good, that will be announced on this site.
- As far as the law allows, the operator is not liable for losses that arise because you relied on a CeKiN result.
Your data
What is stored, what for, for how long and who sees it is explained on the Privacy page. That page is part of these terms. Read the Privacy page
Governing law, and if there is a dispute
- These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Indonesia.
- If there is a problem, tell the operator first. CeKiN is a free service run by one person, so the sensible way is to talk it through first; the operator will answer as best they can.
- If no agreement is reached, the dispute is settled under Indonesian law.
If these terms change
These terms may change as CeKiN develops. The version in force is always the one on this page, with its date at the top. If a change matters — a feature becoming paid, for instance — it is announced on the site.
Contacting the operator
To ask a question or to complain, contact: info@cekin.tech
If it concerns one test, give its test code. There is no promised time for an answer yet.
